Family life can be rewarding but also challenging and stressful. As would be expected, life transitions, such as moving, divorce, or the loss of a loved one, can affect an entire family. Family therapy can provide the opportunity to work through these changes, and allow each member of the family to voice their needs and offer support to one another. On the other hand, stressors that influence one member can, in fact, affect the entire family. Each person’s mood and behavior has an impact on overall family functioning. Hence, family therapy allows every member of a family to participate in identifying constraints in the family, finding solutions and working toward maintaining these changes.
